JERUSALEM –  Three Israelis took the fast lane to the police station by posting a Facebook video of themselves speeding along a highway at 160 miles an hour (260 kph).

Police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld says the driver was charged Wednesday with reckless driving and endangering public safety. He says the two passengers are expected to be charged with encouraging the driver to break the law.

He says it's the first time police have made a traffic arrest based on a homemade video.

The Haaretz daily published a picture of the clip showing the speedometer pushed to its maximum. It says the passengers clapped in the video as the driver picked up speed, and the men are heard debating about where to post the video on the Internet.
